"SMALL SOLDIERS | War For The Nekron" Proof of Concept- RODHANFAR

[DISCLAIMER: Small Soldiers War for the Nekron is a Proof of Concept project in which our team was hired by Comadran Studios to create a set of toy characters during some months from 2022-2023. The conclussion of the project was the Proof of Concept trailer that brought those new characters to life. We would like to clarify that our team does not own these characters and we do not know what comes next for them after the this Proof of Concept. Rodhanfar was designed and rigged by me, modeling effort was shared with David Puertas.

The goal for this character was to create an insectoid, hellpainter style, alien sniper. I wanted to give him some kind of potective shell and also a way to flanc enemies with small remote control turrets. You Can see each turret and the weapon itself have an eye, and only one eye is open at a time. This is because he can switch his sight between the different weapons and control them.

As with the other characters, I made a concept sculpt first to lock down look, proportion and sculpting style for different areas after doing the concept. Then David Puertas picked the model to expand this detailing along the full character. Initially the mechanism of the cannon was much simpler, it was just a canon from the elbow, but we realised that this wouldn't get us a sniper pose, which was crucial to sell the idea. So I took the character and with a last pass of sculpting and rigging I made the changes to the sniper rifle and added the eye on it.
